Why are there so many sweet recipes for breakfast?

Can somebody give me some recipes for savoury breakfasts? I get bored very easily. Why are there so many sweet recipes for breakfast?
How about a traditional English breakfast - bacon, eggs, mushrooms etc. But for a scrumptious change here's a great idea:

Buy 1 tin of Spam. Cut into slices and fry in a very little olive oil (we don't want to increase cholesterol, do we!). Serve with eggs - scrambled, fried or poached. Or cut the lightly fried Spam into cubes and use as an omelette filling - this is SO GOOD! Good luck! Why are there so many sweet recipes for breakfast?
Know what seriously rock? Yam hashbrowns. Like omg, heaven in a pan. Peal a yam, cut it up into hashbrowny chunks, fry in a pan with a little bit of oil and season with salt, pepper, paprika or whatever you like.

Add some eggs, bacon (or other meat) and you have one damn yummy breakfast.

And here's a link to something my mum used to make (her's was different though).

Here is a recipe for healthy apple pancakes from prevention magazine... I'm not sure if apples or yogurt contain sugar, but if so, maybe you could use substitutes?
